Ellen O’Brien


Ellen (she/her) is a writer and IPEd accredited editor living on Bidjigal land.

Over the past 9 years, Ellen has worked as a community lawyer, writer, editor, researcher and facilitator. From 2018 to 2019, Ellen was a facilitator for the Feminist Killjoys Reading Group. She has also conducted research for It's a Long Story, a podcast produced at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Talks and Ideas program; worked as a junior editor at the Sydney Review of Books; worked as a project officer for The Writing Zone program at Western Sydney University; and worked as Editor-in-Residence at the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin.

Ellen has had her writing published in Sydney Review of Books, Meanjin, The Big Issue, Kill Your Darlings, LIMINAL, Overland, Cordite, Rabbit and un Magazine. To see a full list of publications, click here.
